NEWSLETTER DECEMBER 2007
There is going to be a feature article in MG Enthusiast Magazine in the near future about Paul Luti and Rocky. This will be a follow up to the MG ZT520 article and will, we hope, give the Championship a mention.
It is amazing the time that goes into a photo shoot - almost 3 hours!
METRO TURBO GOES TO FRANCE News of one of our ex-racing cars (photo left), the Turbo once campaigned by Dennis Robinson, then Jason Burgess, then Shaun Bugner is now in France and owned by Erick Lefebvre. He purchased the car without engine through Ian Hargreaves of Avonbar Racing and has installed a 1380 normally aspirated engine.
He hopes to come over and race with us at least once in 2008.
DINNER RAFFLE The raffle at the Dinner Dance raised £300 for Lorraine Fuller.

MG CAR CLUB AND SAFETY FAST! There should be a page on the Drayton Manor Park MG Metro Cup in ‘Comps News’ in Safety Fast! in January and a further 2-page spread in February covering the Metro conversion at the London Motorsport Show which also features on the ’front page’ of the MG Car Club web site at the moment.

day 8th December with a standard Rover Metro GTi on the Drayton Manor Park MG Metro Cup stand along with a small crowd of six Championship supporters. The aim was to turn the Metro GTi into a class B racer over the two days of the show, so at 10.00 am prompt the strip down started.
By 1.00 pm the seats, carpets, sound deadening, roof lining, sun roof, rear window, side windows, rear wiper and washer, boot and bonnet locks, central locking system and trim panels were all out. The remainder of Saturday was spent refitting perspex side and rear windows, fitting the roll cage, induction kit, seat, sorting the electrics, and starting to install the extinguisher. The Saturday had been incredibly busy, not only for the build team but also for Dave Heasman who never managed to get a finger on the car as he was so busy talking to punters. The Sunday saw the completion of the fire extinguisher, the fitting of the seat belt, bonnet and boot fasteners, electrical master switch, shock absorbers, brake pads and tyres. It had again been a really busy day — this time with eight supporters in attendance, three of whom spent most of the day talking to punters.
For the Drayton Manor Park MG Metro Cup this had been an amazing show with tremendous interest shown in both the build and the Championship.
Thanks to Dave Whailing, Dave Heasman, Stuart and Steve Carter, James Dunkley, Jason Gillard, Paul Ashton, Jean and Peter Ellis for their help over the week-end and to demon tweeks, Plastics4Performance, AK Motorsport and Sterling Bolt and Nut Co Ltd for their support.
PAUL LUTI IN CANADA Paul missed the Castle Combe race this year as he had been invited to race a Mustang at Mosport in Canada by Sean Hyland. The race was for 2 drivers sharing a car and when Paul took over he lapped 0.625 seconds a lap faster than Sean, the regular driver, and pulled the team up to 2nd overall and 1st in class! This circuit has one of the most difficult corners in motor racing a blind double apex bend taken flat out at 140mph! Apparently one of the instructors at Mosport said that he had never seen any driver go as fast on his first visit! There is still no firm news on Paul’s bid for a BTCC drive next season — their loss could be our gain!
2008 CHANGES TO REGULATIONS When you receive the 2008 Regulations (the Final permit application has just gone in to the MSA) and Registration Form, you will notice that some of the Sporting Regulation wordings have changed. The reason for this is that the MSA have changed their rules for team entries such that the entry of a team now requires an entrants licence at £150. The change in wording is designed to remove the need for the Entrants Licence from our Championship.
The reason Jean and I were not at Castle Combe this year (and probably 2008 as well) is that we were part of the MG Car Club Lincolnshire Centre team that entered the Belchford Downhill Challenge. This is a gravity race and our entry, sponsored by Drayton Manor Park, finished 7th out of 28 entries and won 2nd for best turned out team at our first attempt. We are back again next year with 2 vehicles and hope to do even better!.
A Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to Everyone

Snetterton Relay Report Click here
Thanks are due to Stuart and Jackie Carter for organising the stickers (below) which all the metros racing at Snetterton last week-end carried in memory of Ian Fuller. The commentator mentioned the stickers during the race and there was also a minutes silence at the prize presentation ceremony.
We have decided to send the proceeds from the Dinner Raffle to Lorraine Fuller to do with as she pleases. If you would like to donate a raffle prize, please let Jean or Peter Ellis know and then bring it along to the dinner. If anyone cannot make the dinner, but would like to make a donation, then it can be sent to us at the address below. Newsletter October 2007
